“Gender, weight, age or any other factor has no influence on this process [processing alcohol].” Lol, are they serious? I call bullshit.

Alcohol is processed by the liver, so having a liver disease or an otherwise damaged liver (from being overweight or old or from excessive alcohol abuse over a long period of time) might influence the burning of alcohol in your system. Other than that I can’t really think of any reason why gender, weight, age or taking a shower might speed up the actual burning process.

Weight and gender (ie. the fat-content of your body) would affect the blood-alcohol level, but not the rate at which it is processed.

I imagine a few genetic effects probably could help determine how fast the liver processes it, so that’s a factor, but that may or may not be related to factors like gender…

Yeah thats definately not true. Different weights, genders and ages are all indicative of different metabolic rates. The rate at which ADH can metabolise alcohol is not a finite number. It depends on the metabolic state of the individual and on the level of induction of the enzymes involved in alcohol degradation. Both of these can be affected significantly by age, weight and gender. Weight, not only having a metabolic impact, will also have a “storage” effect. Fatty depots can absorb a significant amount of alcohol due to their vascular provision, thus effectively keeping it away from your CNS.
